First stop was the Yukon…it was hard to see the wreck because the viz was bad but the girls still had fun! Second stop was the kelp forest at 7 Fathoms which again had terrible viz but we did find the kelp!
www.scubadivergirls.com We chartered the Lois Ann and filled her up with Scuba Diver Girls and their friends! Our first dive was to the Mighty Yukon! She lies on her side and is making a beautiful home to marine life! We lucked out with the best visibility and we all had a ton of fun! Scuba Diver Girls would also like to thank Aqualung for letting us try out the SOL AFX wetsuit! It kept SDG Margo nice and toasty!
www.scubadivergirls.com The girls head out on the Humboldt to the HMCS Yukon to do a night dive to celebrate the 10 years since the ship became a reef. They had a ceremony of their own and placed a new American flag on the wreck to commemorate the day! A light boat was there to help light up the Yukon for the divers and everyone geared up with lots of glow sticks, bracelets, and necklaces for the underwater party!
www.scubadivergirls.com The Scuba Diver Girls worked together with Waterhorse Charters, California Ships to Reefs, Stella Luna Productions, and OTS Technologies to create a live underwater press conference to commemorate anniversary of the reefing of the HMCS Yukon Canadian Destroyer off the coast of San Diego. With the use of Full Face Masks with audio communications, the divers talked while diving at the Yukon about what a wonderful project this was. There was also a time capsule placed in the Yukon that contains memorabilia and messages from some of the Yukon’s original project members. This was truly a wonderful experience. Category:

We stayed with Hotel Akumal Caribe www.hotelakumalcaribe.com which was an absolutely beautiful beachfront property! We had excellent food the first night at their Lol-Ha Restaurant where we met all of our fellow dive buddies! We headed out to the Coral Reefs to do our first dive and look for sea turtles! We had a blast!
